Can black christians and muslims work together to solve problems?

Since the days of MLK and Malcolm X, blacks have always organized movements via religious organizations. A recent gallop poll shows that African-Americans, with 65 percent attesting to be Christian: baptist, pentecostal, non-den.,etc; Catholic; and 5 percent Muslim. While Christianity is the largest religious denomination for black Americans, there is a growing number of black men joining Islam. Black women make up 75 percent of the segment of devout Christians. In addition to the numbers many black leaders today are affiliates including the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Dr. Jemimah Wright, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton to name a few. The black pulpit and the black mosque have always been mediums for black uplift and forming national agendas. While blacks may disagree on theology, rightfully so, its important that we come together and build coalitions based on mutual respect. I believe Malcolm X and King would have wanted that.
